Here is a very well done video regarding Laser Gum Surgery. .

LANAP is on the map 0

LANAP is on the map!  AAP (American Academy of Periodontology) Saturday, Marc Nevins showed his Human Histology with LANAP now published in IJPRD this month. AAP Yesterday, Marc Nevins showed his Human Histology with LANAP now published in IJPRD this month.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spPD0O-qnAc&feature=plcp  Sunday Romanos and Izumi showed peri-implant cases treated with lasers. Though both showed full flaps, and bone graft materials (dead people powder, Chinese hamster ovaries, Swedish baby pig juice, cow bones, etc…) and sutures in their cases.  Unfortunately, the other side LAPIP was not to be seen at the AAP. Though it was shown at the Periolase users meeting the day before the AAP. Several peri-implantitis cases were shown without the need of flaps, bone graft materials, nor sutures with spectacular results. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spPD0O-qnAc&feature=plcp “When we have people that are Physically or emotionally compromised we may be able to get a better result than we do with our traditional means”Does that mean Lanap works better on the insane? Are the physically and emotionally compromised different in some way? Who is Myron Nevins DDS?   Dr. Myron Nevins is an Associate Professor of Periodontology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Clinical Professor of Periodontology at the Temple University School

Periolase – Periodontal Disease 0

As part of the general dentistry services , we offer treatments for periodontal (gum) disease).  Periolase is a revolutionary laser used in correcting periodontal disease. The specialized laser is used instead of a scalpel.  It is pain-free and the laser treatment can be used under local anesthetic. Laser Periodontist discuses Lanap Comments Off

Laser Periodontist discusses the FDA cleared laser procedure LANAP. Lanap is a laser procedure that reverses Advanced Gum Disease. LANAP surgery, a variable free-running pulsed neodymium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Nd:YAG at 1064 nm wavelength) dental laser is used by a trained and certified dentist or periodontist to treat the periodontal pocket. The laser energy selectively removes diseased or infected pocket epithelium from the underlying connective tissue. The necrotic epithelium is stripped from the connective tissue at the histologic level of the rete ridges. Since the laser energy is quite selective for diseased tissue, the underlying pleuropotential connective tissue is spared, thereby permitting healing and regeneration rather than formation of a pocket seal by long junctional epithelium. In periodontics, the LANAP protocol is a process through which cementum-mediated periodontal ligament new attachment to the root surface in the absence of long junctional epithelium is achieved for the treatment of moderate to severe gum disease (including gingivitis and periodontal disease). Stimulation of existing stem cells permits the formation of new root surface coating (cementum) and new connective tissue (periodontal ligament) formation (collagen) on tooth roots. The procedure’s success has challenged the old paradigm of periodontal healing in the absence of guided tissue regeneration barriers (GTR)
